Setting Up Equipment

Thoughts and Feelings on the Shoot

At first, we had a solid plan. We planned everything out. Our team worked well together, and we could talk and get to work quickly when we needed to. At first, we did struggle a little bit to tell each what would look best but as we worked together more, we eventually bonded enough to reshoot scenes that had minor errors. Our biggest problem was however that we didn't know how we wanted the basketball games to look. We had a plan for the story, and character arcs, but the two games ended up looking very similar, shot wise. We originally had an actor who could play basketball well but in the end, wasn't able to shoot with us which slowed us down a bit. Also most times we were filming, it was incredibly windy, which meant shooting basketball's into the hoop and getting audio became nearly impossible. We ended

We ended up getting some nice cinematic panning shots that tracked the characters. Our shots had nice focusing elements, where the main focus of the shot was in focus. We also got a lot of different shots of people shooting hoops. We got multiple from different angles, with the sun shining in the background and some P.O.V shots. Unfortunately, however, some of our shots weren't that good, like the weather, and lighting would constantly change and there weren't too many shots that played out continuously, and it made the film feel a bit too choppy.

Overall, the film was fun to work on, but did end up being very difficult to make a decent product out of. Some of the crew didn't have much experience in filming sporty fast-paced films like this one, I included. We had to re-shoot quite a few scenes and changed the script a few times as we were filming which confused us all a bit. I'm happy with the final product, however, I feel like we could've planned it better, and made a better final product. But now I also know to let my ideas be out there and to listen to my team's ideas too.
